Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Grosse Pointe Farms with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in Michigan may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (313) 882-2530. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is villagemarket.net, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Grosse Pointe Farms is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Grosse Pointe Farms follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Epicurious did a vanilla ice cream blind test. Village Market has all the top brands from the blind taste test. The meat counter is awesome. Three brands of pierogi, one is gluten free!

Take all my money. The produce is top tier. Meat and fish selection? Chef’s kiss. Great selection of local and small businesses that you won’t find in other grocery stores. It’s not cheap, but the employees genuinely seem to like working here and I prefer supporting a family-run business to the big guys. Prepared foods are hit or miss (especially the hot foods sitting under the heat lamps).

After going here for 35 years, we have finally stopped going after my wife tried to return bad meat, the butchers made fun of her, then told her she had to go to the cashier. More grief from them, she finally left in tears. Most of the help have an attitude, like they can’t be bothered. Don’t mind paying a premium price if You’re taken care of when you have a problem.

I had such a wonderful experience at The Village Market in Grosse Pointe Farms. I stopped in looking to purchase a few items for a local event gift basket, and Mark Garmo, the owner, went above and beyond to help me. Not only did Mark kindly guide me through great options, but he actually took the time to put the entire basket together for me. His demeanor, generosity, and genuine care were so evident β€” it made the experience truly special. His team was equally wonderful. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and smiling, and it was honestly a joy to shop there. You can feel the pride and positivity the moment you walk in. I live in Waterford and truly wish I were closer β€” if I was, I’d shop here all the time. This is the kind of local business that deserves all the support. Highly recommend.

Beautiful store. Went on a mission to find fruit pie for my husband and they sell the best fruit pie in Michigan (made by Achatz). And they sell Zingermans bread. Small store but packed with quality produce and premade foods. I will be back!
